Hero Image — Thermal Pool at Dawn

Hoar Cross Hall came to us in late summer with a single brief: photograph the spa not as a product, but as a feeling. The existing library — inherited from a decade of rotating agencies — had begun to feel generic. What they wanted, in their own words, was imagery that matched the water.

We spent the first day not shooting. We walked the estate, sat in each of the treatment rooms, drank the tea, watched the light change through the cedar windows. This is always how we begin. Photography is the last step of a much longer process of paying attention.

We photograph places the way you'd like them to be remembered.

Over the following four days we produced 120 final images and three short films — each built around a distinct moment in the spa's daily rhythm: the quiet before opening, the slow middle of an afternoon, the blue hour after the last guest has left.

A single palette, held across a year.

We built a colour study before we built the shot list — twelve cards that would inform every frame. Cool stone, ivory, wet slate, one thread of warm terracotta. The point was continuity: a guest picking up a brochure in January and scrolling Instagram in July should feel the same hand at work.

Outcome

The library launched alongside the spa's spring campaign and has carried the brand for three full seasons. Direct bookings from the campaign page rose 32% year-on-year. More meaningfully for us: the Creative Director now sends new agencies our images as the reference.

— That's the archive for now —
